The one day consultative meeting was organized by PELUM Ethiopia in collaboration with Urban Agriculture and Livestock Development Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Addis Ababa city Farmers and Urban Agriculture development Commission of Addis Ababa with the financial support from PELUM Ethiopia and held on 18 August, 2022 at Bellevue Hotel in Addis Ababa.
The main objective of the consultative meeting is to strengthen the present mobilization of the government on urban agriculture in Ethiopia.
During the consultative meeting a welcoming speech was delivered by Dr. Hailu Araya, Executive director of PELUM Ethiopia. In his speech, Dr. Hailu highlighted the importance of mobilizing communities in tackling existing food insecurities and poverty through implementing Agro-ecological based Urban Agriculture. The opening speech was by Mr. Mekonnen Shimelis
The consultative meeting brought together 60 (11 Females) participants from Ministry of Agriculture(MoA), AA city farmers and UA Development commission, sub-cities and Woredas, model growers, CSOs and invited mainstream medias.
